              The main regulation which controls the Faculty Board is included within the Intern Regulations of the Science Faculty and the Cadiz University’s Statutes.

              Science Faculty’s Faculty Board is the Center’s government and representation collegiate agency [1

              and it performs its duties according to the directives stemming from the University Senate, the agreements of the University Government Council and the resolutions of the University Chancellor, following the principles of organization and operation proclaimed in the University Statutes, in accordance with Intern Regime Regulations (RRI FC) [2].

               

              Duration

              The term of office will last for two years.

              The Faculty Board is made up of ex-officio members and elected members.

                    • The Dean, who will chair its meetings and could be replaced by a Vicedean

                    • The Heads of the Departments attached to the Center

                      Elected Members

                      The Faculty Board is made up by 36 elected members, assigned as follows:

                            • 20 members elected among the Universities Teaching Bodies, which corresponds to the 56% of the elected members.

                            • 3 members elected among the rest of Teaching and Research Staff, 8% of the elected members,

                            • 10 students, 28% of the elected members,

                            • 3 members elected among the administration and services staff, 8% of the elected members.

                      Member Election

                      In the Faculty Board election, all the students, faculty and staff members that, by the date of the calling of elections, are attached to the Center or are registered in the degrees taught in the Faculty are electors and electable.

                       

                      To be able to be a candidate for Faculty Board member, one should be attached to the Center and should be included in the electoral roll published by that Center at the beginning of the electoral process.

                      Appointment of Faculty Board members is a duty belonging to the Dean once he/she has been proclaimed by the relevant agency.

                      Duties


                       

                      Functions

                          • Developing the guidelines of the Science Faculty’s academic policy.

                          • Proposing the Inten Regime Regulations and leave it to be judged by the University Government Council.

                          • Approving the curricula proposals for the degrees asigned to the Faculty.

                          • Proposing the asignement and introduction of new degrees.

                          • Approving the operation directives and establishing the basic organization and coordination criteria for the teaching activities.

                          • Informing about the creation, change or supression of any Department and the attachment of Centers that teach the degrees assigned to the Faculty

                          • Establishing a academic organization plan, just as its evaluation and controling its fulfilment.

                          • Mediating in the conflicts that may come up between the different Departments teaching in the Center.

                          • Being informed of the clearance of the Faculty’s budget.

                          • Proposing the appointment of the honorary Doctors, just as the awarding of honors by the University of Cádiz.

                          • Promoting the communication between the Center and the students, faculty and staff.

                          • Authorizing or refusing reasonedly the acts that are to take place in the precincts of the Center.

                          • Any other duties recognized in the University Estatues or entrusted by the Chancellor, the University Senate, the University Government Council or the Faculty Dean.



                      Duties

                      Faculty Board members have the following duties  [3]:

                        • Attending the Board meetings, just as the meetings of those Committees which they belong to.
                        • Observing and respecting the order and discipline ruled established in the current Regulations and the rest of the applicable rules.
