- Do not eat, drink or smoke at laboratories, and do not keep objects such as gum or toothpicks in your mouth.

- Look up the products safety cards and labels.
>
- Before starting any task, gather all the necessary products and materials and use them according to the established procedure. Operations must be performed safely, following the instructions responsibly.

- Working areas must remain clean and clear, placing in them only the material that is being used. Personal objects must not be left on the working area or on the floor. It is preferable to keep them in the racks or closets.
- When the task is finished, pick up all the products and materials.
- Adequate safety equipment must be used correctly. Usually, white coats, glasses and gloves must be used, as they protect you from dangers caused by the products that are being used and the operations they undergo. In some cases, aprons, masks or safety screens might be required.

- Do not wear rings, bracelets, etc. and wear clothing which cover most of your body.
>
- Avoid keeping objects such as reactives, glass pieces, etc. in your pockets.
- It is recommended not to use contact lenses in the laboratories; it is preferable to wear safety glasses over your glasses or prescription safety glasses.

- Check all the glass material you are going to use. All the pieces with cracks must be thrown away. Pieces which have been hit must not be heated.

- Extract just the necessary quantity of product. Spare product must not be thrown back to the original container.

- When using liquid products and a pipet, do not use your mouth. Use a bulb.
>
- When walking through the laboratory, do it carefuly and do not disturb the ones who are working.
>
- When transferring a product to a new container, it must be labeled to allow its identification and take the necessary safety measures. Do not glue a new label over an old one, this may lead to confusion.
>
- When storing chemical products, avoid the proximity of incompatible substances, keep them away by placing inert substances between them. Outside closets, do not store containers higher than your head or in places where people usually walk.
>
- Residues must be properly neutralized for its disposal or placed in the established containers.
>
- When suffering any accident caused by chemical products, follow the safety advices on the label or the card of the product.
>
- All the people inside the laboratory must know the evacuation routes.
